John has had an extensive executive and governance career, the majority of which has been in the retail and technology sectors. His experience includes over 20 years with The Warehouse Group, starting as a joint-venture partner in 1990 and progressing through senior roles in operation, marketing and merchandise. His career also includes CEO roles with Noel Leeming Group and foodservice distributor Southern Hospitality. Past governance roles include Chair of Powershop and Max Fashions.

John is currently Executive Director and Interim CEO of The Warehouse Group, holds a non-executive Directorship with Colonial Motor Company and serves on the advisory board for Data Insights Ltd. He is a Chartered Fellow of the NZ Institute of Directors and a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

John and his wife own an eight-hectare vineyard in Marlborough, growing Sauvignon Blanc.
