Reconnecting Kiwis with food and farming

Open Farms

Farmlands is proud to be backing Open Farms - a grassroots initiative to reconnect rural and urban Kiwis through a nationwide Open Farm Day on Sunday March 1st 2020.

Like Open Farms, Farmlands is proud of the Kiwi farming story and believes in connecting everyday New Zealander’s with our food, fibre, land and farmers. Open Farms is our opportunity to take positive action and to “bridge the divide” between rural and urban communities.

Kiwi farmers, across all food and fibre sectors now have the chance to present their story, their way, on their farm. We encourage shareholders to visit the Open Farms website and register to host urban Kiwis for a day on the farm.

Through the website, farmers can post an Open Farms event, set and track their visitor numbers and download a comprehensive hosting guide covering Health & Safety, activity ideas, checklists, presentation tips and more.

At its core, Open Farms is an opportunity for Farmlands shareholders, and all Kiwi farmers, to share their food and fibre story directly with the wider community. Let’s get started!
